Tatenda Muchandibaya

Executive Chairman
Tatenda is the Executive Chairman for Affirm Care and serves on its Board of Directors. He is a qualified Chartered Secretary, and has qualifications in Law, Corporate Governance, Marketing, Public Relations and Business Leadership.Before founding Affirm Care, Tatenda led a team of Allied Health professionals to deliver the National Disability Insurance Agency’s Early Childhood Early Intervention program in Perth, Western Australia (WA). Prior to that, Tatenda coordinated and led a team that provided foster care support for children in out of home care at the largest foster care agency in WA. He also has child protection and foster care experience from being a social worker in the UK.Before leaving Zimbabwe, Tatenda worked as a teacher after finishing his first degree, then as Public Relations Officer for the Parliament of Zimbabwe.

Portia Muchandibaya

Executive Director
Portia is the Executive Director for Affirm Care. She holds a Master's degree in Social Work and as well as other qualifications in accountancy, hospitality, tourism and teaching.Before founding Affirm Care, Portia implemented the Safeguarding Children and Young People program for a very large WA community service; and was a team leader, supervisor and professional practice coach for a large WA family service provider. Prior to this, she was a social worker in the UK looking after children living in out of home care and a case worker for adults with learning disabilities, helping them rehabilitate back into the community after being in the justice system.Before leaving Zimbabwe, Portia worked in hospitality, tourism and education sector.

Leanne Gough

Board Member
Leanne is a Registered Nurse with a passion for ensuring high quality care for children, young people, and their families. Completing her Hospital Based Diploma in Nursing at Princess Margaret Hospital for Children, Leanne has and been involved in the care of children and young people for most of the last 40 years.In addition to her extensive paediatric clinical experience Leanne has been employed in the areas of nursing education, clinical practice improvement and clinical risk management.Leanne is a Life Member Australian College of Children and Young Peoples Nurses having previously served on their Board of Directors for 5 years.

Dr Stephan Lund

Board Member
Stephan is a teaching and research academic at the UWA School of Allied Health. He has spent 25 years working in the social services sector, mainly focussed on high-quality care, evidence-informed practice and innovation to improve outcomes for families, children and young people.Stephan established the Research and Evaluation Division at Wanslea Family Services in Perth. He has been involved in applied research investigating issues for grandparents who have the full-time care of their grandchildren, young people transitioning from State care and other projects involving foster carers and children in care.Stephan is a passionate social worker, enthusiastic educator and collaborative researcher. In his work as a consultant and Advisory Board member, Stephan has a strong interest in establishing positive and productive workplace cultures and ensuring people are first in human service delivery.

Dr Bernadette Wright

Board Member
Bernadette was the Senior Clinical Psychologist with WA’s Transcultural Mental Health Service for 20 years, where she specialised in the inter-relationship of mental health and cultural issues for migrants and refugees.She is now in private transcultural mental health practice, is the Co-Director of CrossCultural Intellect, the Co-Chair of the Transcultural Mental Health Network and Adjunct Senior Lecturer at Curtin University.She is passionate about improving mental health literacy among ethnoculturally diverse groups and improving the relationship between clients, families and service providers. As an Advisory Board member, Bernadette brings advice and experience in governance, service delivery and mental health practice, plus lived experience of disability (as a family member).
